Liner Legal, disability lawyers in Cleveland OH, love to serve our community by helping those in need. We also love to feature new businesses in our area! Our office is located in the Old Brooklyn area of Cleveland, and disability attorney Michael Liner quickly became a regular. Liner Legal’s Katie Nobles sat down with the owner of Old Brooklyn Nutrition, Jacqueline Visalden, to learn more about the business.

    The Interview

KN: Tell me about Old Brooklyn Nutrition, and what you offer?

JV: Here at Old Brooklyn Nutrition we offer healthy alternatives with complete meal replacement shakes and energizing teas.  We also provide pre and post workout options.  We serve these items with great conversation, healthy state of mind and good vibes in our shop.

KN: I hear you have delicious food and drinks that really pack a punch, nutrition-wise. Tell me about that.

JV: There are a variety of items that we offer at our shop.  Our healthy meal replacement shakes have 24 grams of protein and 21 grams of minerals and vitamins.  The flavors of shakes are endless to be able to have something for everyone to enjoy.  They range from fruity flavors to flavors that taste just like your favorite dessert.  Our teas boost your metabolism and help burn 80 to 100 calories every serving.  We add aloe for a natural sweetener which also supports a healthy digestive system.  You can also upgrade to a Mega Tea which has an extra boost of energy and collagen. The collagen is good for your hair, skin and nails.  The Mega Teas flavors change weekly and are one of the most popular items.  We also offer a high protein coffee served hot or cold.  This has 15 grams of protein and 2 grams of sugar.  We have something known as a donut shot, which is a fat reducer and an appetite suppressant. You can take it like a shot separate from your shake and tea, or you can add it to your drinks such as the shake and coffee.

KN: Why did you want to open up Old Brooklyn Nutrition?

JV: I have been wanting to open my own business for several years and I have been working in a nutrition club for over a year and when covid hit it was the only job I still had.  We were making such a difference in everybody’s day in such a hard time that I knew this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

KN: Why did you decide to open in the Old Brooklyn neighborhood?

JV: I first moved to the area about 8 years ago and it instantly became a home away from home.  I am originally from Lorain, Ohio.  It was scary to move to a different city where I did not know many people.  I always noticed the Old Brooklyn community seemed like an up and coming area with small businesses. Along with this was community support.  I had met so many people from the Old Brooklyn community and I wanted to be able to offer the members of this amazing community healthy options.

KN: What is your overall goal with the business?

JV: To make an impact in the community, provide healthy food and drink options and provide others the opportunity to open your own business.

KN: What has it been like seeing Michael Liner there so often- he LOVES it!

JV: It has been so wonderful seeing him in here so often for his shakes and teas.  I really appreciate him giving me the opportunity to share my story.

KN: How has business been since opening?

JV: It has been amazing.  I am so grateful for all the support from the community.  We have been steadily growing and will continue to thrive.

KN: Anything else you want to share about the business?

JV: I just want to provide a fun and positive environment for the community where everyone can be comfortable to show up and be themselves.   I want our customers and community members to be able to make new friends and build bonds with one another while in the shop. This is a place where we can help others start making healthier choices, not just with what they are putting in their bodies but also what they are surrounding themselves with daily.  Thank you again for this opportunity to share my story and spread the news about Old Brooklyn Nutrition.
